Pipefitter Supervisor

The major duties include but are not limited to:
Plans the use of workers, equipment, facilities, material and tools on a day-to-day or project-by-project basis; Adheres to work priorities, project schedules, resources and detailed work plans established by higher level supervisors; Tracks and reports progress on work assignments and requests authority to adjust worker assignments and to use overtime, equipment and materials to meet schedules; Assigns work to individuals and provides technical direction and/or help in accomplishing difficult work steps and processes; Inspects completed work for quality and work order requirements; Recommends performance ratings, training, disciplinary actions, changes in performance standards and the most suitable applicants for vacancies; Advises and counsels workers on how to improve their performance and explains new work techniques; Investigates grievances and complaints, resolves them informally and notifies supervisors of those of sufficient importance or seriousness; Performs full range of Pipefitter/Plumber duties including repair, adjustment and installation of thermostatic controls, condensate and thermostatic equipment, mixing valves, solonoid valves, radiators, unit heaters, flushometers and other components parts of utility distributions systems; Completes pipe distribution maintenance and repair of pressure reducing stations, expansion joints, gate/globe/check valves, steam traps, etc.; and Performs other duties as assigned. Considerable walking, stooping, bending, crawling, standing and climbing is required in performance of duties. The person in this position is required to lift/carry moderately heavy loads of 40-80 pounds. Works from ladders, scaffolds, staging, roofs/parapets, as well as working in confined spaces. Works both indoors and outdoors, in all types of weather conditions. Work areas include isolation wards/rooms, in sub-ceilings, pits, crawl-spaces, and tunnels, etc. Safety precautions are to be observed at all times. Protective clothing and equipment are to be used/worn. Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Federal Wage System Qualifications. For this position, the job element method is used to match what you, the applicant, can do against what the work calls for. Your knowledge, skills and abilities will be compared to the knowledge, skills and abilities (called job elements) needed for success. Your qualifications will first be evaluated against the prescribed screen out element (WG-2 and higher only; screen-outs are not applicable to WG-1). A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. All experience listed on your resume must include the month and year start/end dates. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
